As the only K-8, multi-denominational, community day school in Minnesota reflecting the full diversity of our Jewish community, Heilicher integrates general and Judaic studies through an active, experiential, and collaborative curriculum that focuses on deeper meaning and relevancy. A tour is the best way to see our school in action. You will see first-hand that we offer our students a very rich curriculum in both general and Judaic studies. Our unique blend of academic rigor, values based education, dual language learning, and an emphasis on leadership and public speaking allows us to educate and prepare students for all their future endeavors.

Apply for Financial Assistance (Optional)

Heilicher is committed to making our educational experience accessible to as many families in the community as possible. More than one-third of Heilicher families receive some degree of financial assistance. Families are granted financial aid based on demonstrated need and availability of scholarship funds. Financial aid requests are held in strictness of confidence.

Financial aid applications become available to enrolled and applicant families in February.

Admissions Appointments

Upon receipt of your application, a member of our Admissions Team will contact you directly with your detailed next steps.

Individual Screening
- For prospective students entering kindergarten: Our school administers the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning, Fourth Edition (Dial-4). This screening is designed to assess developmental skills in language, concepts, motor, self-help, and social emotional areas.
- For prospective students entering grades 1-2: Our staff administers grade-level reading, writing, and math assessments. For prospective students entering grades 3-8: Our staff administers the abbreviated MAP test online.
Observation/Preview Day
- Observation: During the in-school observation, a member of the Heilicher admissions team will observe prospective kindergarten students in their current classroom setting.
- Preview Day: Students making application for a mid-year kindergarten transfer or looking to enter grades 1-8 attend a student preview day. This involves a half-day (kindergarten) or a full-day (grades 1-8) visit to the kindergarten or current grade level classroom.
Follow Up Meeting
- After your admissions appointments are complete, prospective parents meet with an administrator to discuss the results of the screenings.

Special Considerations

No Prior Hebrew

For students joining Heilicher in grades 1-6, we provide beginner-level Hebrew language groups to ensure that students are able to fully participate even with little or no prior Hebrew experience. Students entering second grade or above will be asked to engage in private Hebrew tutoring during the summer preceding their enrollment. We offer seventh and eighth graders who have no prior Hebrew language skills a course on the history of modern Israel.

Student Resources

The Student and Teacher Resource Team comprises experienced practitioners who work with students who have learning challenges as well as those with social, emotional, or behavioral needs. The team also supports teachers by providing resources and training to maximize opportunities for students to succeed in the learning environment.
