Preparing for Kindergarten

Kindergarten at Heilicher is much more than coloring, practicing handwriting, planting seeds, and counting blocks. Heilicher’s youngest students are encouraged to try new things, ask questions, and investigate their world. We balance developmental growth in an environment where we can provide both rigor and nurture.

Our thorough admissions process provides a great deal of information about our incoming students. Their motor, language, math and conceptual skills are explored in an individual screening, and their social skills are observed at the child's preschool.

Through the use of experiential learning, music, art, and movement, children engage in varying aspects of Jewish practice and have their first opportunities to learn Hebrew language. Whether your child is in a Jewish or secular preschool, or has been learning preparatory skills at home, Heilicher will meet each kindergartener where they are academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
